Hirotsugu Kimura, a 24-year-old company employee from Nishinomiya, has set a new record as the youngest Japanese to sail solo nonstop around the world. Completing his journey in approximately 230 days, Kimura was greeted by about 100 supporters upon his return.

He set sail in October 2023 and successfully navigated the southern tips of South America and Africa. This remarkable feat breaks the previous record set 30 years ago by marine adventurer Kojiro Shiraishi. Kimura's journey was supported by his employer and inspired by his childhood idol, Shiraishi.
