Uniqlo launches T-shirt line featuring historical sumo art.
Uniqlo celebrates 100 years of the Japan Sumo Association with sumo-themed shirts featuring iconic ukiyo-e art, launching in March.

Uniqlo’s dropping some sumo-themed shirts to toast the 100th anniversary of the Japan Sumo Association in 2025. Forget the loincloth; these designs pull from the rich history of sumo’s artistic representation, featuring work by ukiyo-e masters. First up is a shirt with sketches by Katsushika Hokusai, showcasing seven grapplers on the front and a larger pair on the back, with an aged look that gives it serious flair.
Then we’ve got Utagawa Hiroshige’s piece from 1847 on another shirt, depicting a bout at a historic temple in Tokyo. And let’s not forget a banger featuring Raiden Tamaeemon, one of sumo’s all-time greats, plus a shirt that sports a gunbai on the front and a banzuke on the back. Each shirt is just 1,990 yen ($12.70), dropping online in late March. Don't sleep on this collection!
