This year is a big deal for Osaka; they’re hosting the World Expo starting April 13, running for six months. But let’s keep it real—this expo's been hit with some serious challenges. We're talking about construction delays from COVID, prices skyrocketing like they’re on a rocket ship, and ticket sales that are struggling worse than my old high school basketball team.
Only about 35% of Japanese folks are planning to attend, way below the 55% target. Now, Osaka’s hosted this thing twice before—in 1970 and 1990—and back then, it was a celebration of Japan's comeback. In '70, they snagged over 64 million visitors, while this year, the goal is only 28 million. Let’s just say, the excitement is harder to find than my old gym shoes!
