Transparent Display enhances communication in Tokyo, overcoming barriers.
Tokyo introduces Transparent Displays for real-time translation and communication, promoting inclusivity ahead of major international events.

Thinking about traveling to Japan but worried about the language barrier? Tokyo’s got you covered with a new Transparent Display at various locations! This high-tech solution is part of the initiative to make the city more accessible, especially with big events like the World Athletics Championships and the Deaflympics coming up in 2025. It's designed to break down communication barriers for everyone, turning speech into text and translating it across 32 different languages. You can check it out at spots like the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Library and Haneda Airport.
The magic happens in real time — a person speaks into a mic, and the display shows the text while translating it for the other speaker. Accurate and fast! Users can even type on a tablet, making it easier for folks with hearing or speech challenges. The goal? To ensure everyone can communicate, enjoy, and explore Tokyo without a hitch. Yorozuya Ryo from the TMG hopes this is just the beginning, aiming to use other tools for even more accessible communication. Tokyo is on a mission to showcase its charm and culture to all visitors!
