Slope built to rescue man trapped in Saitama sinkhole.

Last Saturday, in Yashio, Saitama Prefecture, a slope was finally built to use heavy machinery in the search for a 74-year-old truck driver trapped in a massive sinkhole that opened up on Tuesday. Firefighters are ready to kick off a full-scale search as soon as the preparations are done. This sinkhole is no joke—about 40 meters wide and 15 meters deep—thanks to a road collapse at an intersection. They even had to spray lime to solidify the soft ground.

The damage is serious, with issues found in an underground sewer pipe and water flooding from another rainwater pipe. To deal with the sewage crisis, officials are asking around 1.2 million residents in 12 towns to hold off on using their sewage systems. They've even started dumping sewage into the river to maintain water quality. It’s a wild situation, but they’re doing everything to resolve it.
