Pokémon Day 2025 starts with a beautiful short film.

It’s already Pokémon Day in Japan, and even though we’re waiting for the big Pokémon Presents showcase, there’s a new animated short film out that’s got me hyped! Dragonite and the Special Delivery, directed by Maho Aoki and produced by CoMix Wave Films, is a joyride exploring what Pokémon and their trainers are up to outside of battling.

Meet Hana, a young Paldean postal worker, played by Riko Fukumoto, who dreams of becoming a top deliveryperson. Stuck as a letter sorter with her partner Fuecoco, she stumbles upon an unaddressed letter from a boy wishing his father a happy birthday. This little twist leads Hana on a path to show she’s got what it takes to be a legend in the postal world, just like that friendly Dragonite. The visuals are stunning, proving that even ordinary Pokémon can look majestic, and there are nods to the returning locations and mechanics in the Pokémon series. Can’t wait to see what surprises are in store tomorrow!
