Ohtani faces live pitching post-surgery.

Amid some serious rehab hustle, Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani took his first batting practice since offseason shoulder surgery that put him out after that wild World Series. This went down right after his third bullpen session, inching him closer to a return after elbow surgery in 2023. Reports say he saw 32 pitches and put three in play, no homers yet, but that’s just the warm-up.

Ohtani got hurt stealing second in Game 2 of the World Series, playing through a torn labrum while helping the Dodgers snag the title. The man put up some mad stats last season – .310 average, 54 homers, and was the National League MVP! Expect him as the Dodgers' designated hitter for the season opener in Japan on March 18. He might even be pitching by May, with a slim chance he’s back on the mound by late April, according to manager Dave Roberts.
