Japan's Cat Day boosts economy as companies capitalize on feline-themed promotions.
Sales related to cats are soaring in Japan, projected to reach ¥2.9 trillion by 2025 due to growing interest.

Sales are heating up ahead of Cat Day on Feb. 22 in Japan, with the “nyan nyan nyan” spirit taking over. This year, convenience stores are stepping up with innovative cat-themed sweets and a rise in original items. In fact, 7-Eleven employees who love cats created 23 cat-related products, a huge jump from just five last year. Some can't miss treats include the "Paw tira-meow-su" and "Dango paw with ki-nya-ko mousse", both showcasing that feline flair.
But it doesn't stop there! FamilyMart's new event, "Operation: FamilyMeow-t!", aims for a 20% sales increase with their cat-themed offerings, including a biscuit sandwich featuring a cat logo. Meanwhile, Aeon Pet is now offering specialized grooming services for cats, which has received great feedback, paving the way for a nationwide rollout. With 9.15 million cats in Japan, the "nekonomics" trend is just getting started.
