Kirina Mochizuki, a Japanese homemaker, has always seen okonomiyaki as the ultimate comfort food: simple, satisfying, and cheap. But now, it's a challenge to get this beloved dish on the table in Hiroshima. With cabbage prices tripling, she finds herself making daily supermarket runs for discounted produce or even turning to dried seaweed.

She never thought okonomiyaki would turn into a luxury item. Now, as a mother of two, she's getting creative, even regrowing leeks in a glass of water using the root base that most folks toss out. It's wild how times change!
