Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya urged U.S. Secretary of State Rubio for Japan's exemption from Trump's proposed steel, aluminum, and auto tariffs.

Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya had a quick chat with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a security conference in Germany. Iwaya made it clear he wants Japan to be excluded from the hefty 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum that President Trump rolled out. He also raised concerns about Trump's looming auto tariffs, which threaten to hit Japanese carmakers hard. Trump announced these tariffs will kick in on April 2, but didn't specify which countries would be affected. Iwaya is on a mission to keep Japan off that list.
