Japanese baseball star attempts paper plane world record.
Hanshin Tigers' Ryutaro Umeno attempted a paper airplane world record, breaking the Japanese record with a throw of 64.652 meters.
The “Bazooka” of the Hanshin Tigers, Ryutaro Umeno, traded baseballs for paper planes in a Guinness World Record attempt for the farthest flight by a paper aircraft. On December 16, with support from the Tayori team, Umeno geared up for a challenge that involves throwing paper airplanes, something no one ever thought a professional baseball player would do. The current record was set at 88.31 meters (289.73 feet)—that’s almost like laying 116 baseball bats in a row!
With about 300 spectators in attendance, Umeno, known for his powerful throws, easily broke the Japanese record on his third toss, sending a plane soaring 64.652 meters (212.11 feet). Unfortunately, he couldn't top that to snag the world record after 44 attempts, saying he felt limited without his usual pitching snap. Still, his achievement made a statement: Umeno may be a baseball star, but he can also toss paper like a champ. He left the event eager to try again—proving that it’s not just the stats that matter, but how you handle a challenge!
