Japan sinkhole prompts evacuation warnings for nearby residents.
Residents near a massive sinkhole in Tokyo were urged to evacuate as rescue efforts for a trapped driver were suspended.

So, here’s the scoop. Five households near a massive sinkhole in Tokyo were told to evacuate because this thing is expanding like it’s got a life of its own. It all started when a 74-year-old truck driver took a dip into that 40-meter-wide hole — that's almost an Olympic pool! The local authorities think corroded sewerage pipes might be the culprit.
Rescue efforts for the driver were going on, but they hit a snag when they discovered a puddle of sewage under the rescue path. With the walls of the hole eroding and rain complicating things, they had to suspend the mission. To make matters worse, about 1.2 million folks living nearby have been told to stop using water like it’s a fiesta to avoid messing up the rescue. It's a wild scene, to say the least!
