Japan ready for 60M tourists?

Japan's tourism industry is set to close a record year with significant economic growth, increased visitor spending, and job creation.

This month, Japan's international tourism industry is wrapping up a spectacular year. Julia Simpson, the president and CEO of the World Travel & Tourism Council, highlights that all the tourism indicators are soaring. We're talking about a jaw-dropping ¥44.6 trillion ($291.5 billion) boost to the economy, showing a 5.7% increase over the previous record in 2019.

But wait, there’s more! Employment in the sector is projected to hit over 6 million jobs, which is 200,000 more than before. And those international visitors? They’re expected to splurge, pushing spending to about ¥6.3 trillion by year’s end, a 16% hike from 2019. Sounds like Japan’s got the tourism game on lock!
