Tokyo is exploring local firms' drone production capabilities to meet rising foreign interest in Japan's military aid program.

Tokyo is diving into the idea of teaming up with Japanese firms to make dual-use drones for export. Countries involved in Japan's military aid program are getting really interested in these unmanned systems.

A government official spilled the beans to The Japan Times, saying, “Both partner and candidate countries are showing increasing interest in Japanese drones.” So now, the foreign and industry ministries are probing local firms to see which systems Tokyo could roll out in the next OSA tranche for fiscal 2025 and beyond.
