Japan and Britain will hold their first "two-plus-two" foreign and economic ministers meeting on March 7 in Tokyo.

The Japanese and British governments are gearing up for their first-ever "two-plus-two" meeting of foreign and economic ministers in Tokyo on March 7, according to sources. This follows a summit last November where the two leaders agreed to kick off an economic dialogue.
Now here’s the kicker: Britain’s stepping up as the second country, right after the U.S., to jump into this dialogue with Japan. Ever since leaving the EU in 2020, the UK’s been turning its eyes toward the Indo-Pacific, even joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Expect to see big names there, including Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, economy minister Yoji Muto, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, and Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds.
