January sees record-high visitors to Japan.
Japan's foreign visitors reached a record 3.78 million in January, driven by increased travel from China during Lunar New Year.

The monthly number of foreign visitors to Japan hit a record high in January, thanks to the travel surge from China during the Lunar New Year. The Japan National Tourism Organization reports that visits jumped by 40.6% from last year, with 3,781,200 people stepping foot in Japan for the fourth month in a row. That's a new record, blowing past December's 3,489,800.
Chinese visitors led the charge, skyrocketing 2.4 times to 980,300—the third highest number since before the pandemic! South Korea and Taiwan also saw increases, with South Korean visitors totaling 967,100 and those from Taiwan rising 20.5% to 593,400. Even Australia and the U.S. made a mark, with Aussie visits hitting a record 140,200 and American travelers increasing by 38.4% to 182,500. Japan’s on fire right now!
