When his name hit the ballot for the first time, the only suspense was whether he’d be a unanimous selection. Sure enough, Ichiro, who became a global superstar with the Seattle Mariners, was elected in his first year but fell just one vote short of that unanimous honor. Mariano Rivera snagged that distinction in 2019.
