"Forest Architecture" debuts at Expo 2025 Osaka.
The "Mori ni naru kenchiku" project showcases sustainable architecture at Expo 2025 Osaka, blending 3D printing with biodegradable materials.
As Expo 2025 Osaka approaches, Takenaka Corporation’s incredible “Mori ni naru kenchiku” project is taking shape, spotlighting sustainability. Using cutting-edge 3D printing and biodegradable materials, these temporary structures offer visitors a unique chill space while showcasing eco-friendly architecture.
Recently recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest 3D-printed biodegradable buildings, Mori ni naru kenchiku beautifully merges modern tech with traditional Japanese craftsmanship. Made from biodegradable resin and clad in handmade washi paper, these structures will even sprout seeds planted by kids! Kickoff for construction was in August 2024, and it’s all lined up for a grand opening in April 2025. This project is a perfect fit for the Expo’s theme: “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”
