BOJ watchers predict next interest rate hike in six months.
Economists predict the Bank of Japan will likely raise interest rates next in July, following a recent hike.
The Bank of Japan is taking its time before the next interest rate hike, likely waiting until summer. According to a survey, 56% of economists predict July as the next hike month, after last week’s increase to the highest rate since 2008.
Gov. Kazuo Ueda promised further hikes if economic conditions improve. The central bank might pause before reaching 0.75%, the highest rate since 1995, with just 18% favoring September and 9% saying June.
