A recent survey showed that 52% of people are ready to use free containers, while 28.8% don’t care if they’re charged or not as long as they get to take the food with them. But get this, 14.5% of people claimed they’ve never left food behind—like, really?

Thanks to new guidelines from the Consumer Affairs Agency and the health ministry, they’re pushing to make taking leftovers home a normal thing and cut down on food waste. Sure, the customers have to pack it up themselves and be careful with the food, but the goal is to keep as much food as possible out of the trash. The restaurant game in Japan is changing, and it’s time we start enjoying every bite!
